Ty came home with a card for a free slushie at Sonic and said "Guess where I got this?" My first inclination was to think he found it on the locker room floor. (Ty often finds treasures on the locker room floor... we have had many talks about the fantasy of "finders keepers" and turning things in to the office.)
He said Coach Peck took a minute at the end of the weekly team meeting to share this. "I had a teacher come to me and thank me for the example and service of one of my team members," said Coach Peck. The special education teacher told Coach Peck about the student who comes each day to pick up his "buddy" to take them to the special needs seminary. Each special needs student has a buddy who walks them to, stays with them during, and walks them back. Coach Peck became emotional at this point. The teacher also said he had never had a student take such and interest and interact so well with these special kids. The student was Ty! I love being pleasantly surprised by my kids good behavior.
